THE PROCESS OF ACCULTURATION OF STUDENTS OF HIGHER EDUCATION:FROM A QUALITATIVE PERSPECTIVE

This article analyses the factors associated with the acculturation process of students who decide to take on an academic exchange experience abroad. The theoretical framework of this research was generated through a careful process that lead the research to the main theories, theoretical models and previous research that resulted the most relevant to acculturation. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with experts in the field of academic mobility and internationalization. Some of the most relevant discoveries that resulted from the interviews showed that the factors of acculturation, context of culture, relationshio with people, language, cultural adaptation, characteristics of the institution and resilience establish greater importance in the processof Adaptarion during mobility.
